What do the Olympians get for a nutritious meal between events
Milan, ITA- When the Olympic Games come to a certain country, the athletes will take some time to see the sights and experience some wonderful memories away from the competitions. They would like to get something local and native to the country or the region they are in, within the Olympic Village. That’s where the taste of Italy comes into play, as the athletes will get a great meal to remember the wonderful time they had off the competition floor or the event they are a part of.
What foods does the Taste of Italy bring?
From Milan to Cortina Bay, will take you on a gastronomy experience like nothing you’ve ever seen. They bring performance, daily life, and Italian culinary tradition as nobody has ever seen. tailoring to the athlete’s nutrition and staying within the guidelines of the IOC. The “Food for Fuel” concept is to make sure all the athletes have access to the right nutritionalprofiles to support training and competition.
The Olympic Villages
Within the three main Olympic Villages in Milan, Cortina, and Predazzo. Including eleven hotels from Bormio, Livigno, and Anterselva, must follow the same guidelines and principles, just like the Olympic Village does as well. The food is available 24 hours a day within the specific time windows for three meals a day.
Discussing the menu
Within the Olympic Village eateries, they will have Pizza and pasta dishes from the carbohydrates station, along with local cold cuts, cheeses, fruits, and desserts. They will also bring in the different culinary dishes from around the country for the athletes to savor and enjoy the authentic taste of Italy throughout the games.
4,500 meals are prepared in the Milan village, nearly 4,000 are prepared in the Cortina village, and around 2,300 in the Predazzo village. A grand total of 18 chefs (six in each village) are preparing meals for all the athletes. The athletes who don’t eat meat also have vegetarian options, proteins, international cusine and so on. It’s amazing what they can get when in Italy for these Winter Olympic Games.
