West Point, NY – Army West Point wrestling capped Senior Day with a dominant 39–3 win over LIU, finishing the night with a pair of convincing dual victories after also handling Hofstra earlier.
Army won nine of 10 bouts against the Sharks and stacked bonus points throughout the lineup, posting four technical falls, one major decision, and one fall.
Farmer: Senior Day perspective
“It’s kind of like a culminating experience in Crystal. So, uh, started my career here. I get to end it here, too. Uh, I got one more duel right there. Get it done. So, uh, honestly, I was pretty happy with our guys up and down the lineup. They, uh, guys that never even probably wrestled in a duel before were going out there, and they were putting on some guys. It was really cool to see, and I’m really glad they did it.”
Bonus points set the tone
The Army Black Knights separation came from turning wins into big team points:
- Technical falls: Charlie Farmer (125), Ethan Berginc (133), Gunner Filipowicz (165), Reid Schroeder (197)
- Major decision: Conor Collins (141)
- Fall: Cooper Haase (174)
LIU’s only win came at 184, where Anthony D’Alesio edged David Barrett, 4–2.
Berginc: depth on display
“I think it just goes to show, like, how good and how much depth we have. You know, some of the guys never started, uh, dual meet in their life. And they got the opportunity on senior night to come out here and just perform. And it was. It was awesome to see. So I’m very happy for them and just get back to work. Look look forward to the next couple of weeks and close out my senior year. It’s unbelievable.”
Win type breakdown
- Army: 3 decisions, 1 major decision, 4 technical falls, 1 fall
