10-0 run started the path to the title
Las Vegas, NV- The New York Knicks played a tightly contested Emirates NBA Cup Final at the T-Mobile Arena in Sin City as they faced the San Antonio Spurs. While the Spurs had a lead throughout the first three quarters, the Knicks stayed with them and exploded in the fourth quarter to grab the lead and stayed ahead as they earned their first Emirates NBA Cup by the final score of 124-113.
O.G. Anunoby led all scorers with 28 points, went 5 for 10 behind the three-point line, Jalen Brunson was second on the Knicks with 25 points, and Mitchell Robinson led all rebounders with 15. Karl Anthony Towns was second with 11 rebounds. De’Aaron Fox led all Spurs Starters with 16 points, while Dylan Harper led the Spurs Bench with 21 pts.
First Half: Back-and-forth opening half between the two teams
The Knicks got off on a 5 -0 start, until the Spurs came in and took over the lead. Their largest lead in the first half was seven points, as the Knicks continued to stay with the Spurs and never allowed them to break away with a large lead. San Antonio ended the half with a two-point lead.
Second Half: The Knicks broke away once the fourth quarter began
The Spurs started the third quarter quickly, dropping several three-pointers and taking a twelve-point lead. The Knicks kept it close until the fourth quarter, when they started on a 10-0 run. That kept the Knicks ahead, and they never let it go as they continued to hit three pointers and grabbed multiple offensive rebounds for second-chance points. They led as much as 13 points and lifted the EmiratesNBA Cup at center court.
