Huskies Hold Bulldogs Under 30 Percent Shooting, Win 20th Straight In Hartford
Hartford, CT – Junior guard Silas Demary Jr. recorded the first triple-double of his career, and No. 3 UConn dominated defensively in a 72-49 victory over Bryant on Sunday evening at a sold-out PeoplesBank Arena. Demary Jr. finished with exactly 10 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds to post the first triple-double for a Husky since February 2024.
UConn (5-1) took a 16-point lead into halftime and controlled the second half, building the advantage to as many as 23 points while never allowing Bryant (1-5) closer than 17 over the final 15 minutes. The Huskies held the Bulldogs to 27.5 percent shooting from the field and dominated the glass by 15 rebounds, leading wire-to-wire despite their own shooting struggles. It marked the first time since Feb. 11, 2025, that UConn won a game while shooting under 40 percent.
Junior center Eric Reibe led the Huskies in scoring for the second consecutive game with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting, adding six rebounds. Demary Jr. and Reibe were the only Huskies to finish in double figures, with Demary Jr. adding a game-high four steals to his triple-double.
For Bryant, forward Timofei Rudovskii scored 11 points and guard Ty Tabales added 10. Junior guard Jayden Ross stuffed the stat sheet for UConn with eight points, five rebounds, and two steals while posting a game-best plus-24 rating.
UConn Dominates With Three Extended Runs
With the contest tied 6-5 in the early going, the Huskies reeled off a 9-0 run to take a 15-5 lead, capped by a Ross dunk that prompted a Bryant timeout at 11:24 of the first half. After the Bulldogs snapped the run, Connecticut responded with another 7-0 spurt to go up 22-7 at the 7:49 mark, then yet another 7-0 burst gave UConn its first 20-point lead at 29-9 with 4:03 remaining in the half. Overall, the Huskies put together a 23-4 run over more than 11 minutes of game action.
UConn entered halftime with a 37-21 advantage and held Bryant to 5-of-18 shooting (27.8 percent) from the floor in the opening stanza. Tabales scored Bryant’s first seven points, while the Huskies held the other Bulldogs without a point for the first 12:46 and to an 0-of-10 start from the field.

Huskies Extend Lead In Second Half
Bryant scored five of the first six points in the second half to briefly pull within 12, but the Huskies once again turned on the jets with an 8-0 run and took a 46-26 lead on a Demary Jr. steal-and-score at 15:18.
UConn took its largest lead when senior guard Solo Ball hit a cutting Ross for a reverse layup that made it 55-34 with 10:29 to play. Demary Jr. completed his triple-double with 3:01 remaining, feeding Reibe in the post for a two-handed flush and his 10th assist. The Huskies pushed the margin to its final tally of 23 in the final minute when freshman forward Jacob Furphy banked home his first career basket.
Defense, Paint Dominance Key To Victory
UConn shot 39.1 percent (25-of-64) from the field and just 20.0 percent (5-of-25) from three-point range, while hitting 77.3 percent (17-of-22) from the free-throw line. Bryant finished at 27.5 percent (11-of-40) from the floor and 30.4 percent (7-of-23) from beyond the arc, while connecting on 95.2 percent (20-of-21) at the line.
The Huskies held Bryant to 27.8 percent shooting in the first half and 27.3 percent in the second half. It marked the second time this season UConn held an opponent under 30 percent from the field.
UConn dominated in the paint to the tune of a 40-8 scoring edge inside and finished with a 42-27 advantage on the glass. Demary Jr. pulled in a career-high 10 rebounds, followed by seven for senior forward Alex Karaban, six from Reibe, and five from Ross.
The Huskies turned 18 offensive rebounds into a 15-6 edge in second-chance scoring. Connecticut dished out 17 assists on 25 field goals and was plus-13 in turnover margin, outscoring Bryant 21-10 off miscues.

Historic Triple-Double, Milestone Performances
The 10 assists and 10 rebounds were both career highs for Demary Jr., and the triple-double was the first for a Husky since Tristen Newton notched his program-record fourth and final one on Feb. 24, 2024, against Villanova.
Furphy made his official UConn debut and finished with two points and a steal in seven minutes. Reibe scored in double figures for the third time in his young career and second consecutive game. He is averaging 15.5 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 60.0 percent in his last two games making spot starts.
Ball scored in double figures for the 40th time in his career, and Demary Jr. for the 47th time and fifth as a Husky.

UConn improved to 3-0 all-time against Bryant in a series dating back to 2014. Sunday evening marked UConn’s 15th consecutive regular-season sellout in Hartford, a streak dating back to Dec. 23, 2023. The Huskies have now won 20 straight games in Hartford.
The 15,495 in attendance witnessed UConn’s continued dominance at the downtown venue, where the Huskies have not lost a game since 2023.
