A big win without their Captain shows this Knicks team is resilient
New York, NY- The New York Knicks began their NBA Emirates Cup run, hosting the Miami Heat without their Captain, Jalen Brunson, who has been suffering from an illness. They took it to the Miami Heat by putting their best foot forward and came out like gangbusters. Everyone stepped up their game from the starters to the bench players as they defeated the Heat by a final score of 140-132.
Karl-Anthony Towns led all scorers with 39 points, edging Miami’s Norman Powell, who had 38 points. Landry Shamet led the Knicks’ bench with 36 points, while Miami’s Jaime Jaquez Jr. earned 23 points off the bench. This was a game where both teams were trying to dominate with jump shots and from three-point range.

First Half: Big second quarter propelled the Knicks to hold the lead
The Miami Heat had a strong start to the game in the first quarter, leading by three, but the Knicks quickly took charge and never looked back. Dominating in the second quarter with 42 points, and by the halftime buzzer ended the first half with a ten-point lead.
Second Half: Cruising throughout the game and never looking back
The Knicks just kept to the game plan. Dribbling down the court, setting up shots that would go in, taking big three pointers, and keeping the Heat behind throughout the second half. Shamet and Towns combined converted 12 three pointers (Six for each man) to give the Knicks a big win and get them ready for their next game, as they will start their five-game road trip at the Miami Heat this coming Monday.
