One Goal gives Fort Lauderdale United a Huge Victory on the road.

Charlotte, NC- Fort Lauderdale United returned to action as they traveled up north to Charlotte, North Carolina, to face the Carolina Ascent. It looked like this one would be a scoreless draw, but that one moment of magic gave FTL the big victory as United defeated the Ascent by a final score of one goal to nil.

Hamid slams it home

The only goal of the match was when Jasmine Hamid had control of the ball and brought it down the near side. She found Kiara Locklear as she ran down the near touchline. When Locklear got near the end line, she walked in and made a pass toward the net, but the ball was blocked. Hamid, who was near the play tracked in and smashed home the loose ball in the 71st minute.

“It felt good getting back on the score sheet. I felt like I hadn’t scored a goal in a while, but it felt good to finally get the ball in the back of the net. Helping the team earn three points is just, honestly, a dream. I want to do that every game, so I’m just thankful I could do it today,” said Jasmine Hamid

Bella Hara returns from suspension

Starting Goalkeeper Bella Hara returned to the net after serving her one-match red card suspension against Brooklyn FC, and she was back to her old self. Staying in position, making several strong saves, and recording her third clean sheet of the season.

“It was honestly awesome. I’m really proud of the girls last weekend for really stepping up. Brooklyn’s a very hard team, so to get a point at home was good. But we always want more, so to come here to North Carolina and to be back on the field, I’m so happy, and I am so proud of these girls.

Every single girl, whether she was on the bench or she was on the field, was working their ass off every single moment of every single game for 90 plus minutes. And honestly, it’s a team effort, and my team had my back and I had theirs, and that’s how we get three points,” said Bella Hara

Victory puts Fort Lauderdale back in second place

This big win for FTL propelled them back to second place in the Gainbridge Super League. While they have a match in hand, they have acquired 16 points, while they are one point behind league-leading Lexington SC, who have 17 points. A gritty win for this team in nine matches played.

“I’m really proud of the girls’ performance tonight, and it was an absolute battle from the first whistle to the absolute end. With this span of upcoming games, today was massive in gaining our confidence. It’s really good to be in that plus three column back, and I’m really proud of them,” said Head Coach Ali Rogers
