Fort Lauderdale gets a new investor to push women’s soccer in South Florida

Davie, FL- U.S. Men’s National Team Midfielder and currently with Borussia Mönchengladbach, Gio Reyna has joined the ownership group of Fort Lauderdale United by helping to raise its franchise value in professional women’s soccer. This investment also helps launch their men’s team that will start next season in USL League One.

Of course, the son of former U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder Claudio Reyna, Gio, has been with Mönchengladbach since his current summer transfer from Borussia Dortmund and remains in the German Bundesliga. Fort Lauderdale United owner Tommy Smith was looking to bring in an important figure to his club involved in the game, and found it in Gio Reyna. While current and former professional athletes from different sports have invested in professional soccer clubs, bringing in Reyna is a solid name to bring over.
