After the disgusting display as the final whistle blew to crown the Seattle Sounders 2025 Leagues Cup Champions, Luiz Suarez earned a six game suspension by Leagues Cup, then this three game suspension by Major League Soccer.
League Cup Suspension is Meaningless
The first suspension from the Leagues Cup is hollow and meaningless because Suarez won’t serve a single game from it. He has already announced that he is retiring at the end of the 2025 MLS Season, so what’s the point of Leagues Cup to hand this suspension to him?
Three Games by MLS is Chump Change
What’s the point of giving Suarez three games? That’s not enough, as the league needed to make his punishment fit the crime. He embarrassed MLS and Inter Miami and their fans, yet they couldn’t tell Leagues Cup to transfer those six games to the rest of this MLS season? Inexcusable.
The suspension of the Sounders assistant coach is a joke
Assistant Coach Steven Lenhart has been suspended for the rest of the season and the playoffs for his part in the post-match celebration brawl. All he did was try to break up the fight and end it quickly.
Suarez doesn’t deserve a light suspension
This legend of Uruguayan football has always shown to be an immature player. Either biting an opponent, shoving the opposition’s head coach inside their technical area. Finally, spitting at a non-player who is the head of security for the Sounders has topped the list. This suspension should be for nine games, not three
