The Jets sent Nnadi Back to the Chiefs, as they have already shored up the Defensive Tackle position
FLORHAM PARK, NJ- The New York Jets, who originally signed Derrick Nnadi during the free agency period, have made a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs, sending him back to the defending AFC Champions, along with a 7th round pick, will get back a 6th round draft pick; both picks will be for the 2027 NFL Draft. After acquiring Jowon Briggs from the Cleveland Browns and Harrison Phillips from the Minnesota Vikings, the Jets decided to move on from their current acquisition and returned him to the Chiefs.

When the Jets added depth to the run-stuffing defense with both Briggs and Phillips, that made Nnadi expendable from the roster. After 66 snaps in the preseason, N’nadi wasn’t a good fit pairing up with Quinnen Williams.
Kansas City Called to Bring N’nadi Back
The Chiefs realized they needed help with a run-stuffing defensive lineman for early downs, as they had problems in their preseason games. So they called the Jets to make this trade and avoid any issues when the NFL has its cut-down day on Tuesday, August 26th, at 4 PM Eastern, when all their teams must have their rosters trimmed down to 53 players.

Final Analysis
Bringing over Briggs and Phillips gave the Jets a better fit and a better option for stopping the run, and better depth at the defensive line. For the Chiefs, they bring back someone whom they respect and trust as they prepare for another AFC Championship Title defense and return to the Super Bowl this season.
