Captain Morgan Partnership Brings Back Fifth Annual Competition with New Duo Entry Option
The National Football League has officially launched the 2025 NFL Fan of the Year presented by Captain Morgan, marking the fifth consecutive year of celebrating fans who embody the spirit and passion that make football America’s favorite sport.
Nominations Now Open Through September
Starting Thursday, August 14, fans across the United States can nominate themselves or fellow supporters for a chance to represent their favorite NFL team at the highest level of fan recognition. The nomination window remains open through Monday, September 29 at 11:59 PM ET, with all entrants required to be 21 or older to participate.
This year introduces an exciting new element: fans can now enter as a pair, allowing dynamic duos to showcase their combined passion for their team and community impact.
What Makes a Fan of the Year
The contest seeks fans who go beyond typical game-day enthusiasm, focusing on those who “spice up the game with their passion for football and serve as a positive force in their families, communities, and beyond,” according to NFL officials.
Bobby Gallo, Senior Vice President of Club Business Development at the NFL, emphasized the program’s deeper purpose. “NFL Fan of the Year has become a powerful tradition that shines a light on fans who inspire others and elevate their communities through football,” he said.
The Ultimate Prize Package
Each of the 32 NFL teams will select one nominee to receive exclusive experiences throughout the season, culminating in representation of their club at Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in the San Francisco Bay Area on February 8, 2026.
The ultimate winner will be crowned at NFL Honors, the League’s annual awards show during Super Bowl week, receiving recognition as the sport’s most outstanding fan.
All 32 team representatives will receive custom prizes and access to once-in-a-lifetime experiences throughout the NFL season, ensuring every finalist enjoys memorable rewards for their dedication.
Captain Morgan’s Continued Partnership
Anne Nosko, Vice President at Captain Morgan, highlighted the brand’s commitment to celebrating fan culture. “Each NFL season shows us just how far fans will go for the teams they love—from diehard traditions to spontaneous adventures that make game days legendary,” she noted.
The partnership reflects Captain Morgan’s dedication to recognizing “the fans who bring the soul, spirit, and unforgettable moments to the game.”
Previous Winner’s Inspiration
Megan Stefanski, the 2024 NFL Fan of the Year representing the Detroit Lions, shared her transformative experience. “Winning NFL Fan of the Year last season was a total dream. I went from cheering on my Detroit Lions all season to walking a red carpet at the Super Bowl!” she said.
Stefanski encouraged potential nominees to share their stories, emphasizing that “passion and heart truly matter” and reminding fans that “you never know where it might take you.”
International Recognition Continues
Building on previous success, the International Fan of the Year contest returns for its third year, honoring passionate supporters across 10 eligible global markets. This expansion reflects the NFL’s continued international growth and recognition of football’s worldwide appeal.
