Wrexham, Wales – Wrexham AFC have completed their most significant signing of the summer transfer window, securing the services of experienced striker Kieffer Moore from Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee. The Welsh international has penned a three-year deal that will keep him at the STōK Cae Ras until the end of the 2027/28 season.

The acquisition of Moore represents a major coup for the Red Dragons as they prepare for another ambitious campaign, bringing proven Championship pedigree and international experience to Phil Parkinson’s attacking options.

World Cup Experience Arrives in North Wales

Moore brings elite-level experience to Wrexham, having represented Wales at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar – the pinnacle of international football. The 32-year-old striker’s presence adds genuine star power to a squad that continues to attract high-caliber talent under the ownership of Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

His international credentials are impressive, having made his Wales debut against Belarus in 2019 and scoring his first international goal against Slovakia the same year. Moore has a special connection to the STōK Cae Ras, having scored twice at Wrexham’s home ground in 2023 during Wales’ friendly victory over Gibraltar.

Championship Proven Goal Threat

Moore’s signing addresses Wrexham’s need for proven firepower at the highest levels of English football. With 200 appearances in the EFL Championship under his belt, the striker brings invaluable experience and a track record of success in one of Europe’s most competitive second-tier leagues.

His Championship journey includes productive spells with Cardiff City, where he netted 25 goals in 64 appearances for the Bluebirds, establishing himself as a reliable goal scorer at this level. Most recently, Moore played a crucial role in Sheffield United’s campaign that culminated in reaching the Championship play-off final.

Double Promotion Winner

Perhaps most significantly for Wrexham’s ambitions, Moore is a proven promotion specialist, having achieved the ultimate prize twice in recent seasons:

AFC Bournemouth (2022): Moore’s performances were instrumental in helping the Cherries secure promotion to the Premier League, showcasing his ability to deliver when the stakes are highest.

Ipswich Town (2024): In his second stint at Portman Road, Moore contributed to Ipswich’s second-place finish in the Championship, earning another promotion to the Premier League and demonstrating his continued effectiveness at the highest level.

Non-League to International: The Perfect Fit

Moore’s career trajectory mirrors Wrexham’s own remarkable journey from non-league obscurity to professional football prominence. The striker began his career in non-league football with clubs including Truro City, Dorchester Town, Yeovil Town, Torquay United, and Forest Green Rovers – a path that resonates with Wrexham’s recent rise through the divisions.

His breakthrough came during a loan spell at Rotherham United in 2017, where he scored 13 goals in 19 starts, catapulting his career to new heights. This experience of climbing the football pyramid makes Moore an ideal fit for Wrexham’s continued ascent.

Leadership and Experience

Moore’s excitement about joining Wrexham is evident in his first comments as a Red Dragons player: “I’m over the moon to join the Club and I can’t wait to get started. I want to be that experienced leader and bring a lot to the team. My work ethic is one of my strongest assets and I want to be someone that can help drive the team forward.”

This leadership mentality aligns perfectly with Wrexham’s culture and ambitions, providing a veteran presence who can guide younger players while contributing goals and experience in crucial moments.

Manager’s Delight

Phil Parkinson expressed his satisfaction with the signing, stating: “We’re delighted to welcome Kieffer to the Club. He’s a player with a lot of Championship and international experience and we’re looking forward to working with him.”

The manager’s comments highlight the strategic nature of this acquisition, bringing exactly the type of proven quality needed for Wrexham’s continued progression up the English football pyramid.

Statement of Intent

Moore’s signing represents more than just adding another striker to the squad – it’s a statement of Wrexham’s serious ambitions and growing appeal to established professionals. The ability to attract a Wales international with Premier League and Championship experience demonstrates how far the club has progressed under Reynolds and McElhenney’s ownership.

With Moore’s contract running until 2028, Wrexham have secured a key player for multiple seasons, providing stability and quality as they continue their remarkable journey through English football.

The Welsh striker’s arrival at the STōK Cae Ras marks another milestone in Wrexham’s extraordinary transformation, bringing World Cup experience, Championship pedigree, and proven promotion success to North Wales.
