NEW YORK – July 30, 2025 – New York City FC announced today that midfielder Keaton Parks underwent surgery to address blood flow issues in his right leg, marking his third procedure for similar vascular complications since 2021.
Parks, a key contributor to NYCFC’s midfield this season, had the surgery performed at Montefiore Hospital and will immediately begin rehabilitation with the club’s medical staff. The American midfielder previously underwent similar procedures in 2021 and 2022 for related vascular health issues.
Club Prioritizes Player’s Long-Term Health
“Keaton’s health and wellbeing is our priority,” said Sporting Director David Lee. “The decision to have surgery to address this issue is best for Keaton’s health both now and long-term. On behalf of everyone at the Club, I’d like to wish Keaton all the best in his recovery.”
Lee acknowledged the significant impact Parks’ absence will have on the team’s campaign. “Keaton has been an important player for us this season, and it’s disappointing to lose a player of his caliber in the middle of the campaign.”
Medical Team Consulting World-Leading Experts
The club has taken extensive measures to ensure Parks receives the highest quality care, with the medical team consulting several world-leading experts in vascular health. This comprehensive approach aims to address both the current issues and provide the best path forward for the midfielder’s long-term health.
“We do not yet have a specific timeline on his recovery but will be guided by his progression through rehab,” Lee added.
Parks’ 2025 Season Impact
This season, Parks has been instrumental in NYCFC’s midfield, featuring in 14 MLS matches for the ‘Boys in Blue.’ The versatile midfielder contributed one goal and two assists, demonstrating his continued importance to the team’s tactical setup despite his ongoing health challenges.
Parks’ absence represents a significant loss for NYCFC as they navigate the remainder of the MLS season. His experience and midfield presence have been crucial elements in the club’s campaign.
Recovery and Support
The entire New York City FC organization has rallied around Parks during this challenging time. The club’s medical staff will work closely with the midfielder throughout his rehabilitation process, ensuring he receives comprehensive support both physically and mentally.
Everyone at the Club wishes Keaton all the best during his recovery as he focuses on returning to full health.
