As the group stage is winding down, one side is trying to stay in it, while the other has dominated Group A and continued to do so as Argentina was looking to enter the knockout stage and get a chance at making the long trek to the finals. It was a tough battle, but once again the Sky Blue & White of Argentina did it again as they defeated host nation Ecuador by a final score of two goals to nil.
After a poor goal kick by Ecuador’s goalkeeper Andrea Moran, the ball was headed down by an Argentina attacker and straight at Paulina Gramaglia. She made a fantastic attacking run down the far side. As she got closer toward the area, she made a pass to the middle, and somehow looked a bit behind Kishi Nunez, but her right back heel somehow deflected the ball into the net in the 19th minute.
Argentina made it two in the second half. It was started and finished by Florencia Bonsegundo when she started the play with a pass to the near side at Carolina Troncoso. As she entered the area near the end line, she passed it back to Bonsegundo, who put herself into a better position to accept the pass and took it one time to roof it inside the net.

After the full 90 minutes were over, Argentina won Group A with a clean sweep of four wins for the full 12 points. At the top of the Group, while Uruguay defeats Chile three goals to nil, they secure second place with seven points. Chile finishes in third place with six points, Ecuador in fourth place with four points, and Chile in last place with no wins and no points.
So, Argentina and Uruguay will advance to the Semifinals, while Chile will play in the fifth-place match. These teams will wait for the final match day in Group B, which will feature Brazil vs. Colombia & Paraguay vs. Venezuela. Bolivia, having already played all four games, will finish in last place with no wins and no points.
