Another big moment in the 2025 UEFA Women’s Euros as the second semi-final match had another explosive moment where the referee wasn’t a factor and the players were allowed to settle this match on their own. After going 120 minutes in this one, it would take one goal and one goal only to get the victory as Spain edges Germany by a final score of a goal to nil.
Spain finally broke through in the second half of extra time as they blocked a clearance at the near side. Athenea received the ball and made a pass that springs Aitana Bonmati into an attacking run. As she got closer to the end line, Bonmati took a hard angle shot that somehow sneaks inside the near post and splashes the far netting in the 113th minute.

Germany tries to equalize the match as Lea Schuller received the ball and, from distance, whacked a hard shot destined for the back of the net. As she drove it toward the inside of the far post, Coll was right there to make a two-handed parry save to push the ball out and over the end line at the far side. Even though Germany did win a corner, they couldn’t do anything with it.
No goals were scored in regulation, but Spain had a fantastic chance to open the scoring in this Semi-Final. As they earned a corner, the ball was delivered from the near side, toward the area. Claudia Pina took the ball and found Irene Paredes at the top of the area, as she glanced a header toward the net, but hit the far post and out in the 41st minute.
A big moment came for Germany inside second-half stoppage time, when they had the ball in midfield. A long shot was deflected off the Spanish defender, and the ball looped in the air, then came down dangerously toward the net. Quick thinking by Catalina Coll to jump up and stop the ball from dropping behind her and into the net, but she left a rebound for a German attacker to get a shot off. Coll quickly got back up and made a second save.

For the first time in the UEFA Women’s Euros, both Semi-Final matches went into extra time and finished in extra time. Give credit to both goalkeepers in Catarina Coll and Ann-Katrin Berger, who performed very well, keeping the ball out of their net and thanking the woodwork for helping them when needed, but unfortunately, someone had to move on, and someone had to go home.
Now Spain will meet England on Sunday, July 27th, for the right to be crowned the champions of Women’s Football in Europe. This will be a rematch of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Final in New Zealand and Australia two years ago. Can Spain win another title, or will England finally grab European hardware? We will find out.
