In the second match day for Group D, the Lionesses were looking for the full three points after their unjust loss of a goal due to VAR removing it because not a body part got their goal removed, as it was from a sliver of a piece of fabric from their jerseys. For the Netherlands, they stood in England’s way, and it would be the English that showed the Women’s Euros why they should’ve had a point in their last match, as they won it by a final score of four goals to nil.
Lauren James was the woman of the match as she scored a brace, and both goals were fabulous. Her first goal was scored in the 22nd minute, when England’s goalkeeper Hannah Hampton delivered a fantastic distributed ball to the center circle, where Alessia Russo picked it up and made a run down toward the near side. When she got close to the area, she made a pass to Lauren James and scored.

James’ second of the match came in the 60th minute, England dancing around the far side touchline, then Lauren Hemp attacked down the pitch. When she gets to the endline, a pass to Russo, then a cross toward Ella Toone as her shot was blocked, but the ball found James, who easily shot it inside the far post to make the score there to nil. England was in full control.
In first half stoppage time, England earned a free kick. As it was delivered, the ball was stopped by the Dutch defender, but England recovered the ball. Two back passes toward the outside of the area, and all of a sudden, Georgia Stenway took a lash and smashed it inside the far post to put England up two goals to nil before the halftime whistle blew.
In the 67th minute, Toone finally got her goal and made it four. A loop[ing ball down the near side, as England was hungry for more. Russo got it and dribbled down inside the area and near the endline. She turned around and retreated a bit, passed the ball toward the top of the area, and Toone buried the ball inside the far post.

England were on a mission and they wanted to prove they didn’t deserve the loss to France in their last match, but for the Dutch, they took a heavy loss in the group stage. As of now, England is tied on points with France until their match against Wales. But for now, they are tied on points, and the hope is they can secure one of the top two spots in Group D.
