You’ll notice two key KHL/MHL prospects who are not in attendance this year. Both Anton Silayev and Daniil Karpovich could not make it to the US due to their visit visas not being approved in time for the beginning of camp.
Other key forward prospects like Arseniy Gritsyuk and Lenni Hämeenaho will also not be in attendance this year as they were given the summer off to prepare for their first seasons in North America after a long and grueling European season.
The Devils also invited a handful of undrafted free agents:
- Riley Fitzgerald, Forward, Mercyhurst (Sophomore)
- Giovanni DiGiulian, Left Wing, Cornell (Incoming Freshman)
- Kody Dupuis, Center, Shawinigan Cataractes (Son of Pascal Dupuis)
- Josh Player, Right Defenseman, University of New Hampshire (Incoming Freshman)
- Jim Dowd Jr, Right Defenseman, Penn State University (Graduated)
- Luke Reid, Right Defenseman, Utica/Adirondack (UDFA)
- Jackson van de Leest, Left Defenseman, Utica/Adirondack
All the players in attendance at development camp arrived on Sunday, June 29th, for team meetings. On ice activities began today, June 30th.
Players will take part in both on-ice sessions and community events, including visits to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in conjunction with RWJBarnabas Health.
To end development camp, the Devils will host their traditional 3-on-3 competition. For the second year in a row, there will be no Red vs White scrimmage.
As they wrap up day one on the ice, here are former Boston University teammates Mikhail Yegorov, aka “Big Mike, and Shane Lachance talking to the media.
