The New England Patriots will celebrate two franchise legends when Julian Edelman and Bill Parcells are officially inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame during a ceremony on Saturday, September 20 at 4 p.m. ET.
The free public event will take place on Patriot Place Plaza, located just outside the Patriots Hall of Fame presented by RTX in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Fans of all ages are encouraged to attend this historic celebration honoring two of the most impactful figures in Patriots history.
Julian Edelman: The Clutch Performer
Selected as the 37th inductee through fan voting on May 5, Edelman’s Patriots legacy spans an entire 12-year NFL career after being drafted in the seventh round from Kent State in 2009.
The versatile wide receiver’s regular-season numbers tell an impressive story. He ranks second in franchise history with 620 receptions, fourth with 6,822 receiving yards, and ninth with 36 receiving touchdowns. His versatility extended beyond receiving, as he holds Patriots records for a wide receiver with 58 rushing attempts for 413 yards, contributing to 9,869 all-purpose yards—fourth-most in team history.
However, Edelman’s postseason performances elevated him to legendary status. He ranks third in NFL playoff history in both receptions (118) and receiving yards (1,443), trailing only Travis Kelce and Jerry Rice in both categories.
As a member of three Super Bowl championship teams, Edelman delivered in the biggest moments. His Super Bowl LIII MVP performance featured 10 receptions for 141 yards in the victory over the Los Angeles Rams. He also made one of the most iconic catches in Super Bowl history with his fingertip grab against Atlanta in Super Bowl LI and caught the game-winning touchdown in Super Bowl XLIX versus Seattle.
Bill Parcells: The Franchise Transformer
Patriots Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft named Parcells as a 2025 Hall of Fame inductee as a contributor on April 1, recognizing his pivotal role in restoring Patriots credibility from 1993 to 1996.
Parcells inherited a franchise in disarray, taking over a team that had gone 14-50 over the previous four seasons, including devastating 2-14 and 1-15 campaigns. His immediate impact was undeniable.
The turnaround culminated in 1994 when Parcells led the Patriots on a season-ending seven-game winning streak to secure their first playoff berth in eight years, earning him NFL Coach of the Year honors. After a rebuilding 6-10 season in 1995, the Patriots rebounded with an 11-win campaign in 1996, tying the franchise record and capturing their first division title in a decade.
That magical 1996 season included a dominant 28-3 divisional playoff victory over Pittsburgh in foggy Foxborough, followed by a 20-6 AFC Championship win over Jacksonville that sent the Patriots to Super Bowl XXXI—just their second Super Bowl appearance in franchise history.
Parcells, a Pro Football Hall of Famer (Class of 2013), holds the unique distinction of being the only NFL head coach to lead four different teams to the playoffs and three different teams to conference championship games. He was a Patriots Hall of Fame finalist five times before his 2025 induction and is a member of the Patriots 1990’s All-Decade Team.
A Historic Celebration
The ceremony will take place at the Patriots Hall of Fame presented by RTX, home to the team’s six Lombardi Trophies and described as “the crown jewel of Patriot Place.” The facility showcases Patriots tradition through interactive multimedia exhibits and historical artifacts while promoting math and science education for visiting schoolchildren.
With these inductions, the Patriots Hall of Fame will feature 34 former players and five contributors, representing the rich history of one of the NFL’s most successful franchises.
