USL Super League becomes Gainbridge Super League in groundbreaking multi-year partnership, marking a major milestone for women’s sports

TAMPA, Fla. – The United Soccer League has shattered new ground in American soccer with the announcement of a historic naming rights partnership that transforms the USL Super League into the Gainbridge Super League, marking the first time a financial services company has secured entitlement rights to a professional soccer league in the United States.

The multi-year agreement between USL and Gainbridge®, a Group 1001 company, represents a seismic shift in women’s sports investment and establishes a new benchmark for soccer league partnerships ahead of the 2025/26 season launch.

Breaking New Ground in Soccer Sponsorship

The partnership represents uncharted territory in American soccer, where naming rights deals for entire leagues remain virtually nonexistent. While individual stadiums and tournaments have secured naming rights partners, the Gainbridge Super League becomes the first professional soccer competition to carry a corporate entitlement.

“This is a landmark moment for professional soccer,” said Amanda Vandervort, President of the USL Super League. “Gainbridge®’s belief and investment in what we’re building demonstrates a long-term commitment to the success of professional women’s soccer and will help elevate our league, clubs, players, and communities.”

The deal arrives at a pivotal moment for women’s sports, with sponsorship investment reaching record levels across multiple disciplines. The partnership signals institutional confidence in women’s soccer’s commercial viability and growth potential.

Gainbridge’s Strategic Women’s Sports Investment

Gainbridge®, an insurtech subsidiary focused on accessible financial solutions, has positioned itself as a major player in women’s sports sponsorship. The company dedicates over 40% of its sponsorship budget to women’s athletics, with partnerships spanning the WNBA, professional tennis, and the LPGA.

“Our mission at Group 1001 is to transform communities through sports and education,” said Dan Towriss, President and CEO of Group 1001. “Supporting women’s sports and partnering with the USL aligns with our company’s mission and values, prioritizing inclusivity, empowerment, and community.”

The strategic approach reflects broader market trends showing increased ROI and engagement rates in women’s sports sponsorships compared to traditional male-dominated properties.

Star Power: Briana Scurry Joins Ambassador Roster

The partnership gains additional credibility through Gainbridge®’s recent addition of soccer legend Briana Scurry as a brand ambassador. The two-time Olympic champion and 1999 World Cup hero joins an elite roster including WNBA star Caitlin Clark, tennis icon Billie Jean King, and LPGA legend Annika Sörenstam.

Scurry’s involvement provides authentic soccer credibility and connects the partnership to American soccer’s most successful era. Her National Soccer Hall of Fame status and trailblazing career resonate with the league’s mission to develop the next generation of women’s soccer stars.

League Structure and Competitive Landscape

The newly named Gainbridge Super League operates as a Division One professional women’s soccer league, positioning itself as a competitor to the established NWSL while offering an alternative pathway for professional women’s soccer in America.

Key League Features:

  • Division One professional status
  • Multi-year partnership stability
  • Integrated branding across all platforms
  • Club-level partnership extensions

The league’s structure provides clubs with additional revenue streams through the Gainbridge partnership while maintaining competitive independence and sporting integrity.

Financial Impact and Market Analysis

While specific financial terms remain undisclosed, industry experts estimate naming rights deals for professional soccer leagues typically range from $2-5 million annually, depending on market size and media exposure. The multi-year commitment suggests significant long-term investment in the league’s growth trajectory.

Revenue Distribution Impact:

  • League operational funding increases
  • Club partnership opportunities expand
  • Player development resources grow
  • Marketing and promotion budgets enhance

The partnership model creates sustainable funding that addresses historical challenges in women’s professional soccer, where league stability often depends on individual ownership investment.

Branding Integration and Fan Experience

The partnership introduces comprehensive branding integration across multiple touchpoints:

Digital Presence: Social media, website, and digital content featuring Gainbridge branding.

Broadcast Integration: Television and streaming coverage incorporating partnership elements.

Stadium Experience: In-venue branding and fan engagement opportunities.

Kit Partnerships: Player uniforms featuring Gainbridge branding elements.

The new Gainbridge Super League wordmark represents the visual foundation for the integrated brand presence launching with the 2025/26 season.

Competitive Implications for Women’s Soccer

The partnership creates competitive pressure on other women’s soccer properties to secure similar high-value partnerships. The NWSL, USL W League, and other women’s soccer entities now face elevated expectations for corporate partnership development.

Market Positioning Benefits:

  • Enhanced credibility with potential sponsors
  • Increased media attention and coverage
  • Improved player recruitment capabilities
  • Stronger community engagement opportunities

Player Development and Pathway Impact

The financial stability provided by the Gainbridge partnership directly impacts player development opportunities and career pathways. Enhanced league resources support:

Training Facilities: Improved practice and development environments

Coaching Staff: Higher-quality technical and tactical instruction

Medical Support: Enhanced injury prevention and treatment capabilities

Compensation Structure: More competitive player salaries and benefits

Strategic Expansion Across USL Ecosystem

Gainbridge®’s role extends beyond the Super League to encompass the broader USL ecosystem as Official Annuity Partner across all USL properties. This comprehensive approach creates synergies between men’s and women’s soccer while maximizing partnership value.

“Their investment highlights the rising opportunities in soccer and underscores the value of being part of this growing movement,” said Paul McDonough, USL President and Chief Soccer Officer.

Future Implications for Soccer Partnerships

The Gainbridge Super League partnership establishes a new template for soccer league sponsorships in America. Success metrics will influence future partnership structures across multiple levels of American soccer.

Industry Impact Areas:

  • Naming rights valuations increase
  • Corporate interest in soccer properties grows
  • Women’s sports sponsorship models evolve
  • League operational standards elevate

What’s Next for the Gainbridge Super League

The 2025/26 season launch represents the partnership’s first major test, with success measured through attendance figures, media engagement, and competitive quality. Early indicators suggest strong market reception and institutional support.

The league’s ability to deliver on partnership promises while maintaining sporting integrity will determine long-term success and influence future corporate investment in American women’s soccer.

As the Gainbridge Super League prepares for its inaugural season under the new partnership, the stakes extend far beyond individual games to encompass the future of women’s professional soccer in America and the viability of corporate investment in emerging sports properties.
