The highly anticipated franchise out of Boston, Massachusetts finally selected their club name after fans have been waiting years for the city to return to women’s soccer.
Needless to say fans, media and potential new fans never would’ve expected what they got when the day arrived. The club decided to release its named BOS Nation FC with no reasoning behind the pick and why it represents Boston. They then followed it up with the most controversial video release in the history of sports and business ever seen.
BOS Nation managed to do something that even two highly debated and disliked presidential candidates have failed to yet accomplish. In one video the new club turned away new potential investors, fans, media and at the same time cause the current investors, fans and media to echo the same statement of being offended.
You see, their “Balls Campaign” was so distasteful it offended every walk of life on the planet. Something Kamala Harris nor Donald Trump have ever been able to accomplish. Here is the video below:
To make matters worse the video is an all male cast. It fails to include the Championships won by Women’s teams in the city or state.
They shunned Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) three time Isabel Cup winner Boston Pride who are now playing in the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) as Boston Fleet. They also left out the Boston Blade who won two Clarkson Cups in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL). The Boston Renegades won five championships in the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA).
The club after being slammed on every social media platform from executives to fans they released the most absurd apology to date. They decided to only apologize to a small percentage of the population, instead of everyone.

When we reached out to the league for comment on the matter they took the wonderful road of “No Comment”. Seems the commissioner believes her league, crest and new team are untouchable and that fans and business owners around the country are uneducated and lack the capacity to remember things that are this level of offensive.
While the league’s front office likes tossing out high percentage numbers over overall numbers in sneaky marketing strategies they fail to realize that the league is on shaky ground with low attendance numbers in some of its biggest markets.
To make matters worse rumor has it Major League Soccer (MLS) the men’s top tier league is looking to buy out NWSL and create Women’s Major League Soccer (WMLS) with every Major League Soccer team already on board and any new teams would have to agree to, in order to secure a spot on the men’s side.
As of the release of this article the league and BOS Nation have shown no signs of fixing the huge disaster and in doing so continue to hurt their image and brand in more ways then they seem to comprehend at the moment.
One must wonder what any of the parties involved are thinking with this odd tactic of fix nothing, say nothing and hide from all. BOS Nation has removed the video from X formerly known as Twitter. Unfortunately, the internet lives forever cause people will always find a way to keep bad publicity going.
Hopefully this will be a learning lesson for the league and its newest club. Everyone wants to see women’s sports strive, but events like this do a lot of harm and people don’t forget it.
